The Death of the Yoga Mat? from TreeHugger

This summer I got pretty seriously into yoga again. I loved my instructor in college, Keirsha! The most amazingly calm, equalized human I'd ever met. I wanted to pour her energy into a cup of tea and just drink it down.  I got so much from her class, even though it was just a basic yoga class for anyone who needed an extra credit hour. I have always gotten really into this kind of thing. I may have been next to the underground frat boys making jokes, but I really just let myself go and indulge in her class.

Once I gradutated, couldn't attend classes because of my then waitressing job. Now that I am home in the mornings, I go religiously Mondays and Thursdays to our local community center for yoga with an equally amazing instructor.

Here's something interesting I found on my a.m. RSS. I am so worried about the filth my mat picks up from the yoga floor...

Authentic Hatha yoga is already pretty minimalist. Spotted in The New York Times style section, a small group of yogins is taking it further--opting to sun salute on straight up floor rather than on their sticky mat.
... They argue that yoga mats are over commercialized, bad for the environment and less hygienic.
